Z not setting to zero (Resolved)
Hi all
MY Z axis has now decided not to set itself to zero after homing, it used to up to today. Does anyone have any idea why?
Report attached.
Cheers

Re: Z not setting to zero
I did exactly this the other day until Swissi pointed out that I was displaying WCS G54, yet the "reset home" homing sequence sets up the MCS G53 coords. Doh!
If you switch to MCS (Alt-D), you will see machine coords are all at zero.
To zero in WCS / G54, use the "set all zero" button.

Re: Z not setting to zero
Spot on Sir! MCS was displaying all zeros, hit set all zero and it worked to reset Z to zero when rehoming. Was also having an issue where I would set Z zero on toolchange yet calling G0Z0 would not result in the correct coord, Z would be 20mm above. Software version 4.20.1 must have changed somewhere along the line and required the touchplate seeting to be negativeMuzzer wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 8:59 am I did exactly this the other day until Swissi pointed out that I was displaying WCS G54, yet the "reset home" homing sequence sets up the MCS G53 coords. Re: Z not setting to zero
The beta 4.49 and upcoming 4.50 releases both show the MCS and WCS coordinates in the main screen, so that should help matters. Having said that, I was already running 4.49, so the explanation was staring me in the face....

Re: Z not setting to zero
I tried 4.49 but I can't find my licence file so it remains on Acorn Free, useless to me as I have 2 motors on X and need pairing plus my MPG wasn't able to be used either.

Re: Z not setting to zero
Racedirector,
when you write a report file on your 4.20.1 install and restore that report on 4.49 Beta, the license file will be restored too.
If you don't want to restore a report file, all you need to do is copy the file "license.dat" from your old install to the new install before you launch CNC12.

Re: Z not setting to zero
Swissi is correct. You did back up your old CNCM directory correct? Open it and look for the license.dat file point 4.49 to it there.swissi wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 11:30 am Racedirector,

IF you did not back up your CNCM directory, I'm sure you have a recent report file right?

Unzip it and look for the license.dat file in there.

Re: Z not setting to zero
Well I feel silly now, forgot what the licence was named. Been while since I used Acorn and am just getting back into it. Will install 4.49 again today and try things with it. Thanks swissi & Marty, you saved me
