Probing cycle failure for

If I try to probe a 3.01" hole with the probe (DP4, Oak, CNC12) starting with the probe in the center of the hole, it finds the first side in the X- direction then stops short of the X+ side and throws an error in probing cycle message.

I have tried increasing parameter 16 teh probing search distance from 5 to 10 and 20 and no effect...

what other parameters could be involved? cant find anything int he DP4 instructions that seems to make sense...

Note: IF i start the bore probing cycle with the probe way off center to minimize X+ and X- distance needed to go the cycle completes and also probed the Y dimension just fine...

ALWAYS post a fresh report. F7 Utilities F7 Create Report
Did you follow the DP-4 Installation manual to the T? I have had good luck out of the gate following it.
https://www.centroidcnc.com/downloads/d ... manual.pdf

Is this a NEW install? Existing install which was working?

Does there seem to be a size threshold, where the inside-center cycle works below a certain size, and fails above that size?

What results do you get with the Slot probing cycle, in X and in Y, for slots smaller and larger than that threshold?

Hi Marc,

yes every hole smaller than that, that i have ever probed works A-OK...

will have to try a slot

marty will get a report, the probe is installed and working, this is teh first time i tried to probe a hole that large everything else i have probed has worked just fine

Did you look at Parameter 16 and adjust it? Max Search Distance? Its default is set to 5

yep that was the first thing I did...
see my first post "I have tried increasing parameter 16 the probing search distance from 5 to 10 and 20 and no effect..."

that's why i was asking if there are other known parameters that effect probing, none of the ones listed in the DP4 instructions see to be related to this issue... Thought maybe there is another distance limiting parameter that isn't listed in the instructions?

What size bore were you trying to probe? Picture perhaps? What exactly was the error generated? Screen shot?
