I remember some discussion last year about using the touch screen sometimes it not releasing buttons that were touched?
I actually had some issues with that when I first did my build. Every now and then, when I would manually move the gantry via one of the arrow buttons on the touch screen, it would not stop moving when I released the button.
Or, sometimes the cycle start button would get "pressed" without my touching the screen.

Since I bought the wireless pendant, I've not used the touch screen at all, and when I do need to use the screen controls, it's always with the mouse.

Yesterday I was changing bits in the router, when the gantry started moving on its own. I'm assuming it was the touchscreen triggering. It seems to be really sensitive to dust or even a light breeze

I'll probably just replace it with a non touchscreen monitor, since I don't really use the touch screen features anyway.

Might have to do with "Optical Touch Technology".

Optical touchscreen technology uses multiple optical sensors to detect the touch point, which registers the touch just before physical contact with the screen. This means that users can apply zero or light touch to the screen to initiate a response, and any input device, such as a finger, gloved finger, pen, or stylus will work

...Or dust, fly, wood chips, etc.

It is not a CAPACITIVE touch, it is ONE touch RESISTIVE. It is a bottom end commercial touch monitor designed for point of use and kiosk terminals. Dust and liquids won't trigger it, and you can use a gloved finger or stylus to activate the touch screen.

You are correct, with the wireless MPG, you don't really need a touchscreen anymore. My keyboard of choice is the Logitech K400+ keyboard with a touchpad and the COSMOS Silicone keyboard skin. Swarf tends not to get into it. Download the Logitech options software and convert the multimedia keys on the top row to the standard F keys. Between it and the wireless MPG and a decent monitor, things are solid and reliable. I am not a fan of touch pads, but for occasional use on a CNC machine, I find it adequate.

+1 on the K400, been using it for several years. Mine is the older version with the programmable buttons and I have one set to launch CNC12 and one set to power off the PC.

If you don't need/want a larger monitor on your machine, I've been having good luck with this one and it doesn't take up a lot of room. Have the Lenovo tiny PC mounted on the back of it.

I had problems with an optical one also. It would occasionally move on its own or sometimes not work.

Me too. I have an MSI all-in-one that misbehaved when the sun shone in through the Velux-type skylight above onto the screen or the desktop in front of it. I'd come back to find all sorts of programs running and documents opened. And if I was sitting in front of it with the sun shining on me, it would sometimes do stuff in front of me without me having to touch anything, if I just moved around - worse when wearing light coloured clothing. Clearly an optical touch screen. I fixed it by fitting a blackout blind kit to the skylight and haven't had an issue since.
