switching acorn outputs

I have only had my acorn board wired up for a couple of weeks and its very much a work in progress,
but i don't seem to be able to switch some of my outputs on and off.
4 of the outputs are in use and these all work fine.
outputs 1 , 3 , 6 and 8 are as yet unused
What i can't figure out is outputs 3 and 6 i can switch using M6* and m8* from the MDI but this will not work with outputs 1 and 8
Can anyone tell me what i may be doing wrong please ?
I have attached a report below

any output set to outpur1, output2, output3 etc
then ....
M61 through M68 will energize them
M61 - Output1 Energize
M62 - Output2 Energize
etc...
M81 through M88 will turn them off
M81 - Output1 Off
M82 - Output2 Off

Hi
Yes i understand that , but when i do this with outputs 1 and 8 nothing happens
All the others work as described above , that is why i am confused !

what do you mean by nothing happens?
nothing happens when you issue a M61-68 in MDI? are you pressing cycle start?
do the LED's on the Acorn change from red to green?
how about a video showing your issue so we can understand.

ok , sorry i will try to make myself clearer !
Outputs 2 , 4 , 5 and 7 are being used at the moment and are fully operational ( spindle cw , spindle ccw , coolant on and actuating an ATC pneumatic piston)
Outputs 1 , 3 ,6 and 8 are at present unused and are not assigned functions in the wizard.
If i put M63 or M66 in the MDI line then outputs 3 and 6 become active and M83 or M86 turns the respective output off.
However if i put M61 or M68 in the MDI and press cycle start then neither output 1 or output 8 become active according to the relay board ie: i can not hear the relay switch nor does the respective LED change from red to green

i started to wonder if the relay board was defective but I have just checked outputs 1 and 8 in the PLC I/O display screen
and i can toggle outputs 1 and 8 between active and not active from there with no problems
But am still unable to turn them on or off using M6* or M8* commands from the MDI

What is "M6" and "M8"?

[/quote]
By M6* or M8* the asterisk meant M6(plus the number 1 - 8 of the respective output) eg : M61 , M62 , M63 etc
and the same for M8* eg M81 , M82 etc

Hi
Continuing my efforts to work out why i can not make outputs 1 and 8 active using M61 or M68
Attached is a photo of my PLC I/O screen ,
what do the 2 dashes under the output 1 and 8 LED's signify ?

Ahh ok ...
To answer my own questions above,
using cont+alt+F while on the relevant outputs on the PLC I/O screen removed those dashes and once the dashes where gone M61 and M68 commands worked to make outputs 1 and 8 go active.
So problem solved !
