Odd 0-10V Issues

Almost done with building my Bridgeport Series 1 MDI. Motors are working.
Tried to connect up my 0-10V for the VFD, using Ecogogo's 9100 VFD. I'm sure the wiring is right, it responds well to a battery voltage (1.5V spins at 15%, 9V spins near max).
As soon as I connect it to Acorn I get oddness. I cant attach a report, machine is in the garage and im not there at the moment.
I put Centroid into manual spindle speed, I get inconsistent voltages. Its as if the pins are not 100% and movement impacts it.
I then wire up the VFD, it will go to 50 Hz and 'cycle' between 47 Hz and 50 Hz. If I just disconnect the plug from the board, it will go to 0 and not come up back up. As soon as I touch the 0V line with a multimeter probe (other side is not connected), it will spin up again to 50 Hz.
Ive tried 2 different shielded cables. Its really odd, the system works perfectly (same cable) when I use a battery to power the 0 - 10V but doesnt like talking to Acorn.
Ideas?

User manual attached for the VFD, almost impossible to find online.
Ive set parameter 0.01 to 1 and 0.16 to 1 which seems to be correct as I can provide a 0-10V simulated input from a battery without issue.

Try disconnecting the shield from ground.

No shield connected, maybe that's an issue?

Disconnect the Analog Spindle Signal from The VFD. Connect a meter on the Com and OUT terminals of ACORN. Set to DC
I don't know what MAX RPM you have, but set it to 0 on the low and 10000 on the high. Write settings.
Go into MDI
Command M3 S5000 You should see 5VDC
Command M3 S8000 You should see 8VDC
Command M3 S3000 You should see 3VDC
Comand M3 S10000 you should see 10VDC
M5 should see 0
and so on....
Report back. I generally use shielded 18 gauge wire from Acorn to the VFD. Twisted if you can. I DO NOT CONNECT the shield. You can certainly try....

Ill do that test in the morning. Ive tried more sets of cables with and without shielding.
What I found (ive got 2 identical VFDs, both do the same) is that when the VFD is powered off, the Voltage from Acorn is consistent.
Merely powering the VFD starts to cause chaos with the voltage. Ill try a HY VFD tomorrow just as a test.
Wire sizes are typically between 0.5mm and around 1.5mm^2.

Do you have the VFD grounded? Sounds like you're problem is noise. Post some pictures of the wiring job so Marty and others can give you some suggestions.

It does sound like noise. The VFD is earth, directly to the Earth point where the main 220V comes in. Ive also joined this to the earth that then goes to the motor.
Ill take some pics tomorrow, still WIP.

The US 18AWG size requirement converts to .75mm dia and .196mm^2, so you are undersize, which is known to cause issues
