ShopMaster Mill Turn conversion

Post by Jdub63 »

I have completed "Phase 1" of the conversion. I have the lathe operating using a custom Gecko driver only diagram. The NowForever VFD is controlled via the Acorn and relay board, and I've added a magnetic ring encoder to the lathe spindle. I'm using the Lathe Pro version of CNC12 v4.14.

Now I'm trying to transition into "Phase 2" and add the Mill control. I downloaded and installed CNC12 and selected the "Mill" in the popup. Once installed I tried to run CNC12 Mill, but it times out on the "Establishing Communication with Acorn" screen.

I went back and started the CNC12 Lathe Pro, and it still works fine.

I'm sure I read in one of the forums that you can run both Mill and Lathe on the same PC and same Acorn, but I can't find it now.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong??

Up and running on the Mill, but I do have one issue.

During my test runs on an exterior frame the runtime graphic starts at the upper right but the actual part is on the lower left corner. I used the center of a 3x3 aluminum square as X0 Y0 for the first cuts. The cutter moves to the lower left corner to start the plunge, but the graphic display shows the cutter at the upper right. I'm sure I have something checked wrong.

Any ideas where to start?

thanks,

dub

After reviewing the operators manual, I think I have my axis reversed.
