Version 4.14 - Issues to Report, Please post them here

In an effort to keep any issue reports in one place and not get lost in multiple threads, I created this "Sticky Post"
If you have successfully installed Acorn CNC12 Version 4.14 and have your machine up and running ok, but come across what you think is an anomally or not what you expect, and you can recreate it, then:

1: Post a thorough description here
2: Post a NEW report
3: Describe your machine, drives/motors, spindle drive etc. Post pertinent screen shots, video clips of the issue.
4: Make sure it is repeatable
5: If it has something to do with running a particular G code file, upload it in your post
6: ANYTHING else you can think of that is pertinent to your concern.
7: Make sure you have Teamviewer 12 loaded on your CNCPC with internet access. Teamviewer 12 can be found here: https://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/ ... #version12

Let's collectively work together to resolve any issues and make CNC12 the best that it can be!

If we really want to make CNC12 the best it can be, here some minor stuff that I have reported during the Beta Phase but did not make it into the released version:

Some of the files that come with CNC12 need cleanup:
  • mfunc52, 53 and 54 still say that these are Macro Buttons and both 53 and 54 say they are Macro Button 3.. << cnckeith writes...These are left over from v4.12 and were place holder macros, these are unused in v4.14 and have no effect on performance of v4.14.. you can delete them or copy in the attached edited place holder macros that now say Filename: mfunc5x.mac - Unused and Available for customization that are attached if you like. >>>
  • mfunc56 says in the description that it is M55 instead of M56, << the typo in comments of mfunc56 have been corrected see attached edited file.>>>
  • mfunc66 says in the comments that M94 /66 does request OUTPUT8 instead of OUTPUT6 << the typo in the comments have been corrected see attached edited file.>>>

Thanks Swissi.
You caught some commented out stuff in the Macros. We missed it during Beta testing, fortunately its informational and doesn't affect the macro itself as Keith pointed out and was kind enough to post corrections. I believe they will be updated in a maintenance release.

Just loaded the update, ran across the first issue: my X-axis limit switch no longer functions.

Converted Logan lathe, Leadshine-style drivers running Automation Direct closed-loop "hybrid" steppers. First or second gen Acorn, prior to the detachable cable blocks. Add-on 8-solenoid board, which is currently only used to operate the WEG VFD. Full setup was working properly and well last time I powered up the machine, less than a week ago.

Today I had a few minutes so I decided to tackle the 4.14 upgrade, followed the instructions pretty much to the letter. Everything seems to have worked just fine, but the X-axis limit switch is utterly ignored. Yes, I checked it electrically. Homing worked perfectly a week ago.

I have it set in the Wizard to reverse the direction for Z (simply because of the orientation of the motor) and to home Z first (toward +) then X (toward - due to the location of the limit switch.) Z homes just fine, as it should, jogging slowly toward the switch, contacting, and making the little back-and-forth movements 'til it settles. But X continues on 'til it jams up against the apron- or would if I didn't hit the E-stop.

I tried backing the cross slide away, and re-homing; as the slide jogged slowly toward the switch, I tried pressing it manually, full travel. Nothing happened- the axis continued to jog, no indication was given on the control panel that any switch had been tripped, nothing. I had to E-stop it again.

Report attached.

Doc.

Ah. Yep, I entered that, but must have missed clicking 'save' at that step. Homing restored, thank you!

Easily missed when you have to key in all those settings all over again.
Doc, thanks for posting the report and a description, yours was an easy fix!

Just got around to the install, and the problem I just ran into is the Max Rate is out side of the valid range of 0-471. Here's a screenshot side by side with the old settings. I read somewhere else someone had the same problem, but I haven't found the thread yet.

Dan,

Mine did this. After I rebooted everything I changed it back to my previous values.
