Upgraded from Mach3 & ESS to Acorn. Stability of the Acorn is fantastic. After a few hiccups in the learning curve I was able to make my first part.
Performed tool changes flawlessly & was able to cut the part in half the time I could previously.
Part is the first side of a motorcycle suspension valve.
Thankyou.
Michael

Thanks Keith,
System was first built with Mach3 & ESS, however I grew tired of the small glitches.
Donor mill is a TM25v which appears to be very similar to the PM25.
I am mid way through a scratch built VMC & was planning to use Acorn for control. Thought it may be better to learn the interface on this machine in the meantime.
I have found that everything just works & logical. The post processor from my cam (Visual Mill within Alibre) is far more reliable than the Mach post. Machine is homed with Metrol switches on all three axis with soft limits controlling the travel.
At the same time as switching to Acorn I swapped to closed loop steppers. With combination of both I was able to increase rapids with the same rated motors. Spindle is belt driven by a 1.5hp WEG induction motor with SEW LTE-b inverter to 120 hz using TTS style tool holders.

Michael
