Oak to Jog Panel cable help

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum and am just finishing up a Bridgeport knee mill conversion (4 axis) using the Oak board with Estun AC servos. I'm currently making up the cable to connect the Oak board to the Jog Panel on an M400 CNC control panel. The schematics I have give the pin-outs for the cable and connector on the Oak board side, but on the Jog Panel side, the schematics don't indicate where pin 1 is. They just show an 8 pin connector with no polarization marks or pin numbers. The connector on the Jog Panel PC board is labeled J5 and CPU10 header. Pin 1 and Pin 8 of J5 are marked clearly on the Jog Panel PC board. From the schematic, the order the wires goes in is clear, I just don't know whether is goes in right side up or upside down. I'm guessing that on the drawing, pin one is at the top of the connector...but I don't want to risk blowing a chip or two.
Thanks for the help,
Bill
