CNC12 G-codes g41 cutter compensation

Post by trottrr50 »

I have a question about G41 (cutter compensation). I am using G41 to make a 0.25 inch cut in x and y. When I make the cut it comes out to be 0.25 inches but the DRO reads out the path of the center of the end mill. I guess I expected to see the same coordinates in x and y the I used in the g-code program. As an example on the first cut I take I specify x0.25 for the cut. The DRO value is 0.625 ie half the cutter diameter 0.375 or 0.1875 plus the DRO readout 0.0625 equals 0.25 or the programmed value. I was under the assumption that the DRO should read 0.25 for x in this case

I have attached a copy of the gcode.

hello.
the DRO always displays the center line of the spindle's position relative to the WCS (work coordinate system) that you are currently using.
