Wiring a Renishaw MI-12 to a Acorn board.
I acquired a renishaw optical probe setup for my milling machine. What is the best way to wire the SSR output to the acorn board. The way I am most familiar with is wiring to a 24VDC +input. Thanks in advance.

If you post the Renishaw manual and/or schematic we might be able to help.

Depends witch optical eye you have, they usually need to be powered 24 volt, then with the acorn you us the ssr set to nc in the eye to break a wire to the acorn probe input and common on the schematic from centroid. You may have to wire a trigger wire to turn on the eye for probe or otc, all depends on what renishaw eye your running.

Re: Wiring a Renishaw MI-12 to a Acorn board.
Just looked at the ml-12 user guide, you may have to mess with the wiring to get that unit to work with the acorn, if you look at the schematic for the tt-1 probe from centroid it shows a signal and probe detect, i use a switch for my probe detect when i put in in the spindle so it locks it out from spinning. The signal is the wiring that your going to have to wire to the ssr in the mI-12, what you might have to do is wire a switch to that machine start on the ml-12 control to get the control to fire the omms to look for signals for the probe. I hope this helps.

Re: Wiring a Renishaw MI-12 to a Acorn board.
Thank you for your reply. I the setup I am using has A MP8 probe with a shank switch that auto starts the transmission between the probe and OMM. I am utilizing only one OMM in my application. The SSR specifications say plus or minus 50 volts at 65ma,so I will the measure the SSR output signal prior to wiring it to the acorn board.

O i see, you may have to add a relay to that ssr output if it is outputting 50volts so you dont fry the acorn, Im not to familiar with that probe, im running a omp 400 and a omi-2h eye.
