Missing ability to import DFX file <answered>

First off let me say I absolutely love CNC12 and Acorn CNC. I have been suffering with Mach3 for a few years and with Acorn things just work and make sense. I am using the latest CNC12 PRO with a Gecko G540 controller.

My issue is: today I wanted to import a .DFX file and for the life of me I cannot find the location of the command to import DFX.
If I understand the manual correctly it says in the CAM menu you would select ICN > INSERT > OTHER > IMPORT DFX.
After selecting OTHER I do not see an F8 option allowing me to import a DFX file.
I have ensured I added the .dfx file to the location c:\cncm\ncfiles

Did I miss something in the manual? The only section I found that mentions it starts a page 134 which leads me to assume it is talking about inserting a file in ICN.

I have spent the last hour going through every submenu to no avail, is there a setting that needs to be toggled before that option is available?

DXF import is an option on CNC11. I did not see it mentioned on the Acorn software comparison page http://www.centroidcnc.com//centroid_di ... oller.html

Hopefully someone else can clarify.

If I had an Acorn controller on my CNC plasma table and someone sent me a .dxf file to cut would I have to recreate that from scratch in Intercon or would I use something like SheetCam which lets me import a .dxf and generate the G-code?

What would be the method?

I asked a similar question about .dxf import here & the answer was no: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=1093&p=5477#p5477 No LazyCam here (thank goodness!)

B/F it will have to be an Intercon manual re-do from the .dxf or a CAM program (like Sheetcam, etc) conversion of said .dxf .

hello. yep.. we did away with DXF input in Intercon in CNC12. please use any one of the many cad/cam system available to generate G code from a DXF file.
We decided to concentrate on making great CNC controls and not a mini cad/cam system inside of intercon, our resources are limited and with the great selection of cad/cam system available these days, this makes the most sense for Centroid and its customers. personally i use Vectric products (Vcarve Pro) and now I'm starting to play with Fusion 360 for when i need a cad/cam system.

Fusiohn 360,

Yup, even old guys like me can work with Fusion 360. I think it is by far the easiest of the Cad/Cam programs to learn. Autodesk has a lot of good videos with step by step instructions for beginners.

I still have an issue with bolt holes from sketch. I don't have the time to stop right now and figure it out but I will someday.

I've just started using Fusion 360 as well. The Centroid post seems to work well at least for general 3 axis applications. I haven't tried Thread milling or anything "special" yet, nor have I ventured to try any additional axis moves. So far so good.
