Double Check my VFD wiring!

Post by boristouchstone »

Hi,

I'm considering pairing up my Acorn with a Delta MS300 VFD (VFD11AMS21AFSAA).
However, before I make the purchase, I would like to see if I can get the wiring done right to begin with.

Here is what I've come up with (with the help of Ai).

If anyone would please confirm the wiring diagram, that would be much appreciated.

Aside from the incorrect labeling in the table, the main issue is that DCM needs to connect to the COM on Acorn H9.

Other than that, it should be good.

REALLY? I'm surprised it wasn't worse..

Okay, thanks for the tip! But, I have a few clarifying questions.

Currently, I have OUT5 commons and OUT6 commons from the relay board connected to DCM. Should I remove these and connect them to commons on H9? I also have RC from the VFD relay connected to commons on H9. Should I keep it as it is?

Thank you so much in advance!

Wait a minute... Sorry about that, I made a mistake here.

You do not need to connect DCM to the COM on H9. It is fine and probably recommended to leave those common (logic grounds) separated. S15008 shows no connection between COM/Acorn power supply V- to DCM.

The rationale here is that the VFD has its own internal power supply for the inputs and all the inputs are isolated.
* The way we show to wire them uses the VFD's internal power supply to generate the input signal voltage to be switched by the Acorn's relays. This has to return to the VFD's internal power supply common aka DCM.

* The Acorn's power supply is used to provide the signal voltage for the Acorn's inputs. The relay output of the VFD switches this and it must return to the Acorn power supply.

* AN_GND on H8 is internally connected to H9 COM to some degree. Connecting H9 COM to DCM may cause a ground loop or some other troublesome situation depending on the design of the VFD.

So should I leave it as it is?

Thanks for your help thus far.. it's really appreciated :)
