Hickory Install - Wired MPG Pendant?

Hello Again,

I have been scouring the forum, literature that has come with the board we purchased and other user accounts online but have been unable to find any sufficient details for my issue. I want to install a wired MPG on my machine. It will be using the Hickory board and I can't find in the included literature any instructions on connecting one of these to the board. By all accounts, the available wired pendants I can find all use 12 pins for comms and the only connections on the board I can find are 9 pin. Am I missing something? Does hickory support the use of wired MPG pendants? If so, how do I go about installing this?

Thanks,
Andy

You would have to wire the MPG encoder to one of the Hickory's 9-pin encoder inputs; then wire the axis-select and increment-select switches to discrete PLC inputs (using up between 6 and 9 of the 32 PLC inputs on the Hickory board). You would also need to wire one relay output for the MPG LED.

You could then import a typical "MPGStage" from an Oak or Allin1DC program into your Hickory PLC program, and add appropriate input and output definitions.

All that is a DIY project. Centroid does not provide pre-programmed support for a wired MPG on the Hickory. However, it is not terribly complicated.
