acorn board communications error after update <Resolved>
I bought this board a while back for a router build. A family member got sick with cancer and has passed! god rest her soul!
I got the board out, bench tested it. had it communicating and was fine. last week I turned the nuc pc on and I updated the software. it said to reboot, so i reboot the pc. since that it just gives me the communications error. says to check firewall, and the ethernet cable. which i do and even ran the pc tuner and everything checks fine. try to start cnc12 and just get the error. does anyone know how I should procede? i get the heart beat blue flash, ping tests are fine, tuner app says fine but still get the error. any help would be appreciated.

Re: acorn board communications error after update
There is no such thing as updating cnc12. You have to do a new install. I'm not sure if that affected anything.
If you post a current report, the experts here might be able to help.

Re: acorn board communications error after update
Sometimes its best to install cnc12 with the board powered up

Re: acorn board communications error after update
Did you install the latest software? It's 5.3 and here's a link to download it: (older versions do not have free support)
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... loads.html
Here's a link to the install manual:
https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... manual.pdf
Download and install 5.3 if you haven't already. As Ken stated the Acorn has to be connected and powered up to install the software. It will create a backup of your current install so nothing will be lost. Follow the instructions in the install manual and run the PC tuner and stress test.
Post a screenshot of any error you get.

Re: acorn board communications error after update
thanks for the replies! did exactly as you said shawn. while acorn board is plugged in like first pic, downloaded, and installed 5.3
board, and pc communicate,,
acorn software says download complete, needs to reboot to take affect like in pic two,,,
then when i reboot pc, so it rboots the acorn board, i gwt the communicaions error.
I did these steps over and over and it will not communicate after the updated cnc12 software.

Re: acorn board communications error after update
only error was the screen res, but i dont see that stopping the board from communicating!
this started when i would get a random communication error a few times and the only way to connect, would be to unplug the acorn, reconnect and it would be fine. i havent even made it to test motors and switches, thats what i was getting ready to do now that i have time, then this started.

Re: acorn board communications error after update
When it says firmware update complete, it was talking to the board at that point. When it said to reboot, that was only the acorn system and not the pc. Your pics are fuzzy and most of them I can't read.
