Shuttle won't jog after program ran <Resolved>

Post by fusion »

Hello,
Having trouble with my lathe. After running any program, the Shuttle won't jog or allow me to select an axis. The other shuttle buttons work as they should. I have to exit CNC 12 to get the jog function back.
Any idea why?
Thanks,
Mike

Do you have,a probe connected? The jogging inhibit is due to probe protect thinking your probe is tripped.
Cheers,

Tom

I do have a probe configured. It’s a conductive probe. Thanks for the tip. I never would have put that together with a jogging problem. I’ll turn off the probe protection in the wizard and see if that solves the problem.
Thanks!

Re: Shuttle won't jog after INTERCON program ran

Post by fusion »

It wasn’t the probe protection causing the shuttle jog to stop working. I turned it off and had no effect.
This is interesting. If I run a G code file it works just fine. If I use Intercon or the One Shot intercon functions on the VCP then the shuttle won’t jog. If I load an intercon G code file from the hard drive it’s fine.
So, to reiterate, loading programs from a drive and running them, the shuttle is fine. If I do anything using the Intercon interface, the shuttle jog stops working. VCP jogging is fine. Loading other programs after that is fine. Just no shuttle jogging.
Thanks for any help!
Mike

Your probe is not configured correctly. Correct that, and I bet your shuttle problem goes away.

Re: Shuttle won't jog after program ran

Hi Tom,
What do I need to do to correct it?
I have it wired to input 7 and the chassis ground like the wiring diagram suggests.
What do I need to change?
I’ll go grab some screen shots of the settings.
I don’t understand why probe settings would effect this when I am seeing jogging differences between loaded G code and Intercon interface.
Thanks
Mike

I looked at the msg file and see there are some API calls I don't recognize changing parameters.
(4) 05-27-2025 19:43:34 999 Parm #153 modified via api call: 0.00000 -> 1.00000
(4) 05-27-2025 19:43:36 999 Parm #244 modified via api call: 50007.00000 -> 0.00000
(4) 05-27-2025 19:43:36 999 Parm #244 modified via api call: 0.00000 -> 50007.00000
(4) 05-27-2025 19:43:42 999 Parm #911 modified via api call: 16.00000 -> 0.00000

Does this have something to do with my problem?

One more clue to this mystery, is I edited the PLC program so that the select axis would toggle between Z and X and not use the 2 unused axis. Did I break something there during that process?

Thanks!
Mike

Ok, I figured it out. When I use a G code program from a drive, the USB/Keyboard Jogging setting stays active. When I use an Intercon application, it turns off the USB/Keyboard Jogging. All I need to do it hit Alt-J and the Shuttle works again. Odd, but I can live with it.
Thanks for your help.
