Drive Fault on all drives
I had everything working a few weeks ago - all the drives were responding to the acorn software as expected. I mounted the control box on my machine and ran the cables to all of the motors in the final configuration. Now when I try to run - all drives fail with a Drive Fault and no other error that I can determine. Is there a way to get more detail as to what is going on? Attached is a report I just generated

What brand drivers/motors?
Pics of inside cabinet (acorn board) and what driver profile are you using?

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
I had everything working inside the cabinet while I was building it. It would be helpful if there was some sort of indication what DRIVE FAULT means. I am running the latest version of the acorn software (free version). The lights on the drivers light up (closed loop StepperOnline CLT86 for the X, Y, Y1 NEMA34 motors), CL57T for the NEMA23 Z axis closed loop drive). As soon as I click the button to job any direction on any of the motors I get a DRIVE FAULT. Nothing changed in the control box. I had to add extension cables to get them routed properly. I guess, I will need to verify all of the cable from the control box to the motor. Strange that all axis are having an issue. All of the lights on the Acorn board where the drives STEP, DIR, and ENA are wired to are all lit up GREEN

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
Did you test the motors using the “ bench test profile” ? If so, did you change the profile in wizard after installing on machine?
Please send pics of wires to acorn board. No judgement man, my sh!t is jacked but works.

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
On an Acorn, "drive fault" means that one or more of your drives is reporting a fault. If there is truly a fault, the additional information will be on the drive, not CNC12. More than likely, the drive fault input is not configured correctly, or overridden/forced on the CNC12 I/O screen.
Cheers,
Tom

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
I added pictures of the board and the acorn wizard. I played around with the enable settings and the drive fault went away but no movement on any of the motors. To be honest I am still a noob on configuring steppers. Not actually sure what the enable does. Seems like it might be part of the problem somehow

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
I have DIR, Step, and Enable wired to the screw terminals at the top of the board

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
As it's likely stated in the driver manual, these drives are enabled by default and the enables are normally not connected. Do the drivers "flash" a code? This flash code should also be stated in the driver manual. Double check that you have all the encoder wires connected correctly, as that will cause a fault too.

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
Latest update 5-5-25:
I have the Y motor working as expected. Y1, X, and Z are still not moving.
I disconnected the ENA+ and ENA- from the Stepper Driver and the Acorn board
Verified all drives that are NOT moving are powered and holding against any movement
No errors showing on the stepper drivers (all green lights)
I have verified both cables (power and encoder) on each motor that is stuck to ensure there is continuity from one end to other
NEMA34 on X, Y, Y1 using CL86T driver
NEMA23 on Z using CL57T driver
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. I suspect the problem is in my Acorn configuration but I have no confirmation of it

Re: Drive Fault on all drives
You have had multiple people tell you to use the db25 and 5v and you refuse to do that. The manual for the drive shows 5v wiring or use resistors if you use higher voltage, which is what the header does. You may have damaged some drivers already by doing that.
Your post for getting things moving, would probably be better in the Acorn forum. Many don't normally watch the plasma side and you are not to the point of doing plasma troubleshooting.
Start a new thread with the current problem, because the title of this one is not what is going on at this time.
