Camera App for setting Part Zero

While testing the cool PaperTool App for AI generating G-Code with Camera View I thought it must be easy to use the camera for setting XY zero or do some measurements....
Since the WIN Camara App is with a crosshair overlay, easy to use the default macros and VCP buttons with a camera instead of a crosshair Laser

Yep, currently working to integrate the camera on the lathe with a VCP button and the default WIN10/11 Camera App
I need this to measure axial grooves for customer parts...

First test on the lathe.
I made a VCP button to launch the win camera app and ffmpeg for additional camera controls.
8mm camera is clamped in a collet.
Easy to measure within +-0.03 mm.
Not bad for a 20 buck cam and freeware

I have compared it with a Dino Lite Edge, not much difference for the purpose to measure this axial groove.

Measurement with the Dino.

I have printed a better mount for the Dino.
It is very handy to optimize thread cutting.
To get rid of the burr I have had to run the finish pass from the profile again, or do some Higbee stuff.
But with bare eyes it is ok with the little burr.
