The hypertherm 45 sync has a CPC port with voltage divider and also has a serial port. is the serial port supported with acorn plasma or not necessary. I'm trying to understand this before I order one.

The serial port is for remote adjustment of amperage and gas pressure and I don't think Acorn and it's software can do that.....yet. ??????? :D

My Powermax 85 with the CPC cable is NOT a SYNC and I have to walk over to the box and dial the amperage where I need it for various materials. I would say you don't need it.

Thanks, that sounds like what I understand it to be.

The hypertherm 45 has a duty cycle of 50% @ 45 amps, 5 min for every 10 min. If you plan on cutting > 3/16” at any production rates, you will end up damaging the power supply. A hypertherm 65 has a duty cycle of 100% @ 45 amps. Which means you can run it all day at 45 amps without any concern. I do understand the additional cost associated w/ a larger unit, however. In the long run, you will be much happier. I have had my hypertherm 65 for 11 years, cut several million inches without any problem. I bought a hypertherm 85 last year ( non sync) and run it at 65 amps. Anyway.. if you run any machine at 100%, 100% of the time, it will prematurely fail. Just my two pennies.

Thanks for the advice. It is much appreciated. I'll look into the 65.
Thanks again.
