Hi Everyone! I am trying to build an application that sends GCode to the CentroidAPI/CNC12 and reads live positional data from this machine:

https://www.avidcnc.com/pro4824-4-x-2-c ... -1340.html

My machine has not arrived yet, is there anyway I can simulate integrating with the CentroidAPI/CNC12 without my physical machine being present?

Hello imperio, welcome to the Forum!

The short answer is 'No'. A connection to a Centroid CNC control board is required for full use of the software, including working with the API.

The long answer is 'Kind of', you can install the "Offline Mill & Lathe Intercon" software from our downloads page. This software was built to allow users who have purchased the Offline Intercon physical key to have full access to Intercon without a control board present but it can be used for extremely basic API development. The Offline software does not include a PLC, you can perform basic movements using the API but anything deeper than that will not work correctly. So if you are chomping at the bit to get a project setup, you can use the Offline software but to really get your hands dirty, you'll need to wait until your PRO4824 arrives.

Of note, you can install CNC12 (including Avid's customized version, which I recommend you use with your PRO4824) on as many PCs as you want, however they will only work when they have a properly configured ethernet connection to the CNC Control board.

Another option is to buy an extra Acorn ($400) to use as a development station.
