Setting tool height offset for KP-3 probe

I just bought the KP-3 probe. In order to use it to set Z 0, I need to know the tool height offset for the probe/holder combination. I assume I use the same manual process for this as I have done for all of my other tools. True? If so, do I set the height at the point the LED is triggered or do I back off 1 step (1X) from that point?
Thanks for any help.

Greg,
hello.
how and where is the machine home position? what kind of machine is this?
are you using the set machine home at the z+ position?
or are you using the reference tool method?
please post a fresh report.zip. photos of the machine.

Yes, you should measure the probe's height offset on the same surface that you use to measure all your other tools.
You should be able to use F3/Auto to make the probe measure itself.
That will ensure that the touch-off procedure when you measure the probe is identical to the touch-off procedure when you use it in part setup.
