VCP not responding to keyboard inputs

I'm running CNC12 on a Windows 10 PC and after a long enough time at idle the VCP no longer responds and I have to reset and re-home the machine.
The limited homing accuracy of Avid's proximity sensors (.005") can sometimes become a liability on certain job types.

The ethernet cable is high-quality and shielded.

Windows 10 PC control panel:
High Performance power plan
Never for Turn off display / Put computer to sleep
Keyboard and mouse - both unchecked for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
What else should be checked?
Is providing an error report helpful?

Thanks

Yes a report is always helpful, thanks!
If you haven't already I'd recommend running our PC Tuner app.
PC Tuner can be downloaded here: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... loads.html
This will ensure all Windows settings are setup properly for CNC use.

Just to quibble some details of software architecture: I don't think the VCP ever responds to keyboard inputs.

CNC12 (cncm.exe) accepts keyboard input. Some (e.g. F keys and ESC to navigate its menus) it processes itself. Others (e.g. Alt-S for Cycle Start, SPACE for Feed Hold) it passes to the PLC program. The PLC program generally recognizes PC keyboard inputs, in addition to VCP clicks, to request various operations such as Cycle Start, Feed Hold, jogging controls, etc..

So you should clarify what it is that stops responding: keyboard input? VCP clicks? Both? Other?

If you press the keyboard key for the Windows Start menu, does the Windows Start menu pop up?

Run the Centroid CNC PC Tuner on the PC. (in case windows has updated something)
