X axis isn’t working correctly <resolved! Laguna 4x8 Router>

Post by SandboundChris »

I am at my wits end. I picked up a Laguna’s 4x8 router one month ago and immediately ordered Acorn and began the swap. Basically I am just unplugging the wires from the Laguna’s rich auto controller and moving them over to acorn. Factory wires are all labeled and had nice tidy factory wiring. My main issue is that the x axis functions normally when I manually move it but when a try a test file x axis won’t move while the spindle is on. If I click the spindle off in the middle of the job the x axis start moving fine. On the face book group which has some of the same members here I got a suggestion to enter some g code manually and on y axis works perfect on x same problem as before. It seems more like a setting I have wrong somewhere and not a wire since it works manually. Any help is appreciated.

Difficult without seeing a report but what's the status of your 'drive enable' when running the spindle? Does this output change (assumes you use this to enable your drives?)

What happens when you try to manually jog X while the spindle is running?

I didn't see the responses soon enough. I'll check stuff after work today.

We're happy to help you out, we just need a bit more information to do that:
-A fresh report.zip: This contains vast amounts of information on your build.

-Info on components in your build: Drives, motors, switches, etc.
-Links to any manuals and schematics you're using.
-Pictures, video, and screenshots are the only way we can see what you see. The more the better!
See this post for further breakdown of what could be useful information for us:

That's clearly a noise issue from the spindle because many of those Chinese machines (Laguna is a rebranded Chinese machine) don't use shielded wire where it's required. They also don't follow proper grounding practices or guidelines for noise. If it works fine with the spindle off and it doesn't when you turn the spindle on, that's a RFI/EMI noise issue. Look at your error log, I'm guessing it's filled with communication errors.

The link to the pictures of the machine and the error report. The x axis does not work in manual mode while spindle is on. If I turn on the spindle but unplug the power at the spindle itself the x axis wont move until I click off. I am using the original leadshine controllers and basically just unplugged everything from the original richauto controller in the pictures over to Acorn. Everything was well labeled. Almost a direct plug and play swap. I also just checked based on the electrical fricassee possibility that the Z access will not go up and down until the spindle is shut off also.

Can you please attach a report from the machine here in a post? Just upload the complete zip file here.

That electrical fricassee is better known as "noise". :D

Isn't that what I just posted? I want to make sure and share the right things so hopefully it's correct. I do appreciate any help offered at least it steers me in the correct direction

It appears that something might have been attached to your google drive and it tells me to "request access".

Just attached the .zip file to your post, not a link to your google drive.
