CNC12 v5.30 Mill, Lathe, Router and Plasma has been released. 3-7-25

Available at no charge, all previous license files file work with this new version of CNC12 software (in their respective categories: Acorn mill licenses work with Acorn mill, Oak lathe licenses work with Oak lathe CNC12, etc.)

CNC12 v5.30 work with Acorn, AcornSix, Hickory, Allin1DC, Oak and MPU11 CNC control platforms.
For Acorn/AcornSix/Hickory DO NOT use “restore report” with a report file from an earlier version of CNC12.
Please Follow the installation and 'upgrade' instructions found on the downloads. here is the link.

I ca't find a forum/thread for feature requests for future versions of CNC12. If this is in the wrong place please move it and let me know where the correct place is. In the advanced axis setup there are multiple options for signal inversion, customisable for each axis, but only one universal step rate function. For users of different drives and motors on the same machine (for instance long linear axes vs a rotary, or short travel linear, or just different ratings to suit the different torque/duty) it may be helpful to have the step rate assigned per axis. Certainly would be for me if poss in a future update. Thanks.

Hi Keith,

5.28 is now on my lathe, sorry for finding more bugs...

Calculation of max Rate for C Axis is wrong, 37.5 deg/min really ;)
TurnRatioC.jpg
Max Diff in scale setup is not saved to #P571.... Had to setup in the Parameter directly to make it work.
MaxDiffNotSaved.jpg
Menu Title for Smoothing Setup, too much text, font too small for my age
Smoothing.jpg
Besides from this it seem to work ok, but I have not made parts...

Uwe

thanks! will get fixed asap.

the smoothing function key label change was a artifact of editing some titles. and was unintended.

F1 function key label in the smoothing menu changed to read "Smooth Off" which is what is does, turns off smoothing a reverts CNC12 to its "regular" motion algorithm

thanks, sorry but no plans to do this with Acorn. it is a low level function that has been baked into the design foundational architecture.

if you want to run at at a step rate of 200K (or 400K etc) make sure all your drives can accept it. :D

did we just throw you a curve ball by changing the unit that the wizard wants for rotary axes?

when in MM now the wizard wants degrees per turn. how many degrees does the rotary axis move then the axis motor is turned one revolution?

i know this will toss a curve ball to anyone upgrading as now they will have to a bit of math to convert their old number

My C axis is with 4.5:1 so 80 deg per turn is ok (360/4.5=80)

8000 steps/rev = 8000/80= 100 steps/deg

400000 khz = 400000*60= 24000000 steps/min

24000000 steps/min /100 steps/deg = 240000 deg/min max rate

Setup to 54000 in CNC12 without Wizard and it was like before.

With 37.5 deg/min I could have two glasses of wine before one rev is done....

Uwe

haha, yeah we found a reciprocal wrong in the calc! so you are right once again. thanks! fixing now.

max diff is only set by parameter the menu currently doesn't allow you to change by design.

will add to the Wizard and CNC12 scale menu (allow edit) in next major release.
