Cutter Compensation for neutral tool orientation

hi guys, i have a question.

i want to turn a Poly-V Pulley on my lathe. so i did a 3D Model in CAD first

and afterwars i did the programming in intercon:

as you can see, i have some crossing from the roughing path and the finish part and i guess the contour will not be correct.

i want to use a VCGT carbide insert in neutral orientation. is there any way to programm that in intercon ? i could remove the finish path, than it would look like that:

but my fear is, that i will have steps in the contour from roughing.

do you have any idea how to solve that?

i would like to start tomorrow morning, so maybe someone of you have a idea overnight ;)

thank you in advance and best regards
Michael

It is hard to guess without seeing a copy of your Intercon program, but my guess is that you used a Profile cycle, and entered a non-zero "stock to leave" value on the Z axis.

With such steep walls on both left and right, you will want to leave the Z axis "stock to leave" amount at zero. Just use X for your finish allowance.

Pls post the Intercon file.

Under certain conditions it helps to change the depth of cut.

hi, thank you a lot, this was a good hint.

this is working now, but i have to manipulate the intercon programm for the last movement, the tool would go through the part.

and - i will have no radius compensation. i will check the profile, i have only 0,2mm nose radius, it should work without compensation. but is there a way to use the compensation ? or only with CAM ?

0.8mm depth of cut and profile start at 122mm.

Sometimes you have to change the depth cut and start diameter to avoid cutting the profile.

In Fact it was an issue in my offline Intercon. When i sent it to my machine, It worked well.

Thanks everyone.

But it was turned without radius compensation. Works in my case, but would be great, if this could be implemented in a Future Release.

Thanks

Michael

Probably did not have the return position set on the offline Intercon.
