Just asking if it is possible

Hi Everyone,
Maybe I am losing it, or maybe it is just living in a multi-front war zone the past 15 months. I realize that it isn't practical, just asking if it is possible. Can the +/- 10 VDC command voltage be isolated from one of the Centroid DC drives to be used to drive an external AC drive in the event that a larger motor was necessary, or does it just get too messy?

You did not say what model Centroid DC drive you were interested in working with.

If it is an Allin1DC, then you can just plug either an OpticDirect board or an AC/DC drive into the DriveBus out header at the bottom of the Allin1DC.

If it is a DC3IO, SERVO3IO, SERVO1 or QUADDRV1, then it might theoretically be possible, but you would need to spend a lot of time reverse-engineering the control circuits on the drive. I would be surprised if Centroid was willing to publish the circuit board schematics.

When I asked the question, I was assuming that the answer would be the same for all of them. As it turns out, it is for a client with Allin1DC, so once again you have provided the answer. I was not aware of that feature on the Allin1DC. However, since you didn't just laugh, I may pull out an o-scope and do some experimenting with one of the others. Thanks Again, Marc

ALLIN1DC is almost entirely digital. You won't find an analog request on it. You would have to go back to something designed before probably 2008 (like the products cncsnw listed).

Thanks for that. As it turns out, because the ALLIN1DC has the option to connect an OpticDirect board or an AC/DC drive into the DriveBus, there is no need to locate the +/- 10 VDC on that system, but I still think it would be interesting or worthwhile on those controls with older drive systems, like the DC3IO, SERVO3IO, SERVO1 or QUADDRV1.

Our interests obviously differ  , but...

You can find -10 to 10 on all of those. Start at the MAX500 DAC and follow the signal through the opamp stage after it.
