I have acquired a Atrump knee mill with an M15 centroid control, version 6.03 Its an old DOS based system , but everything works flawless. I've been trying different methods of programing on my desktop and have discovered the control does not have the option to run sub routines. Is it possible to access the disk(s) to update this control? I have tinkered with the CNC12 offline download and it does generate executable programs for this dinosaur, so that's a +!

You can purchase and add the "Subprograms and Macros" option to the control, without changing the software or hardware. Contact Centroid for pricing. It would just be an unlock code that you enter on the Machine Parameters screen.

jJust heard back from Centroid, $550 for this option? I suppose I can copy and paste, change the Z depth. This is not a production machine, by any stretch. Money better spent on CAD/CAM software.

Chances are the obsolete motherboard on a DOS-based system is not long for this world. When that dies, you might consider upgrading to a newer Windows computer and the newer Centroid CNC12 where this functionality is included along with a bunch of UI and implementation improvements.

most M15 customers buy an allin1dc controller and use it to upgrade the machine cnc controller to a windows 11 computer and the latest Pro Mill CNC12 software which uses a three tier license structure rather than the ala carte 'unlocks' from 30 years ago.

Thanks for the informed responses. The age/ obsolete nature of the system is the most logical reason NOT to put much $ into the current system. I paid around $3000 for the machine + $250 to get it wired up. Id like to do a few jobs on it before spending that much more in upgrades (which it will need in the future). I've been a machinist for over thirty years and was fortunate enough to to learn manual work and then CNC along the way. I spent the last 11 years programming, setting up, and running a Quickmill gantry mill using Mastercam. I am now running my own, one man shop and have to learn the "nuts and bolts" aspect of machines like this one. Thanks again for the responses and know i am open to any suggestions or advice. ~Chad M
