Hi Centroid community,

I'm in process of planning a retrofit project on 2 Mori Seiki SL-6. Anyone have experience with this machine? Please give me some feedback and upload a similar build so I can use as reference to guide me on this build.

Little history:
I bought these 2 machine from when my buddy shut down his shop a few year back dirt cheap. Powers up and function great but this dinosaur control has gotta go!! I'm not a big fan of the FANUC 6T as I previously has many bad and costly encounters on an old OM CNC VTL, which is now retrofitted to a centroid and yaskawa motor and drive. ZERO issue.

Couple key item in this build:
Centroid Panel Mount
Yaskawa Sigma 7 Drive and Motor (Z-axis and X-axis with Brake)
12 Station Turret
Tailstock Jog and Quill in and out
Gear Box Selection

Thanks!

SL-series turrets can vary, even within the same machine model.

Do your machines have the hydraulic turret, or the electric turret?

With the Fanuc control, does the turret rotate in both directions for tool changes, or does it only index forwards?

It has a Hydraulic Turret, and Indexes in a forward only. The manual says both directions, but I confirmed it only rotate in 1 direction. I'm thinking the manual maybe specifying a reverse direction for its clamping sequence.
