Greetings All,

Over the last twenty + years, Centroid has used a variety of different fiber optic devices from Avago/Broadcom, such as R-2524, R-2531, R-2521Z, T-1531, and T-1521Z to name just a few. When replacement is necessary, must the original part be used, or are there specific transmitters and receivers that are backward compatible? Thank You in advance.

As always, it is best to replace with the same part number. In general, if you are using MPU11 generation equipment then you should use the 5 MBaud parts (HFBR x5x1). If it is older things like RTK2, it probably does not matter whether you use the 5 MBaud or 1 MBaud parts. A breakdown is in the datasheet: https://docs.broadcom.com/doc/AV02-1501EN
