Lathe spindle not reversing direction

Post by dmon86 »

I am in the process of setting up my Emco 120p with acorn and having an issue getting the spindle to run in reverse with M4

I can command the spindle to run in forward, but not reverse, it just stops spinning.
I have a Hitcahi WJ200 and have wired it with schematic s15128

Things I have checked:
I have swapped the 1 and 2 pin on the vfd and when I do so the direction at the spindle changes when I do an m3 command, so I know the terminals in the vfd are functioning, and the motor as well.

I changed relay outputs to make sure I didn’t have a dead relay. If I command forward relay 4 is green, if I command reverse relay 5 is green.

I swapped the spin fwd and spin reverse outputs in wizard and it changes direction.

I checked continuity in the spindle reverse wire to ensure the wire was not bad. And replaced the cable just to be sure.

Hoping someone can help me out

The schematic you used for your wiring is designed for SpindleEnable and SpindleDirection outputs, not SpindleFwd and SpindleRev outputs.

Thank you, that was it. I don’t think I was ever going to figure that out in my own.
