CNC12 Router and Plasma Control

Post by Jim Klawon »

I'm trying to set up a single PC to control a plasma table as well as a router table. Two different tables, two different Acorn controllers. I have the ethernet cables running to a multiport switchbox. Is there a "best way" to set this up? I noticed that there is a "router plasma swap" option when installing CNC12 but I was unsure if that is for one table with dual functions or completely separate tables and Acorn boards. I have installed two copies of CNC12, one plasma and one router and I restored their respective reports. I seem to be able to manually control the motion of each table and all of the settings seem to have transferred when I restored the reports. The problem that I ran into started when I loaded a file to be run on the plasma table. It's looking for files, like the various cut profiles, in the original directory that was created and set up for router.

I thought before reinstalling both copies in different parent directories I'd check to see if anyone knows the specifics on the "router plasma swap" option for installing CNC12. I can't seem to find much information about it anywhere. Also, am I correct in assuming that each board has it's own IP address so that both boards can be on at the same time when connected through the switchbox?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The Router/Plasma swap install option would be the best way to go. It will automatically take care of swapping the active software/directory. Two controls cannot be run from the same computer at the same time. As each version of software has its own settings you can either run 2 machines or the same machine in different configurations, one Plasma and one Router.

Most people just switch the Ethernet cable plugged into the PC to switch between controls, a simple and failsafe method. All boards have the same static IP.
