5.18 RC3 "Set Part Zeros" issues

Post by Sword »

Here are a few "Set Part Zeros" issues...

Manual - Verify Probe Function message displays twice, and takes two cycle start presses. Also, previously reported, you can't use the Enter key to start this function when Enter key for cycle start is set in the wizard.

Laser - Setting position here with Set/F10 references the value that is set for the Edge Finder Diameter in the Manual screen. For example, if you have 0.375 set as the edge finder diameter, and you have a laser to spindle offset saved, it will subtract the radius of the edge finder from the final set position. It would also be nice to have the option to lock the X and Y together here, so when you hit "Set", it would do both at the same time if desired.

Probe Boss, Web, In/Out Corner - For each of these, you can't enter the values for Width, Diameter, or Clearance. Also, all probe cycles will start with the Enter key, but will not continue after the verify probe message with a second tap of the Enter key.

Plate - Personally, I'd like to have an option to return to G53 Z0 instead of a clearance height when finished. Perhaps a toggle for either way. Yes, I can edit the macro no problem, but... ;)

thanks for your testing and reporting efforts! very much appreciated. if you get a chance please post a fresh report.zip so we can load those settings when trying to recreate and test things out. :D

Here's that report Keith. Great on the G53 Z0! 8-)

To add to the previous findings, if you don't have "Probe Protection" enabled, but do have "Display Warning to Verify" for any or all three touch devices, you do not get the tripped/cleared warning. If you do have "Probe Protection" enabled, you do get the tripped/cleared warning for probe and tool touch off, but not for touch plate.

Manual - Verify Probe Function message displays twice, and takes two cycle start presses. Also, previously reported, you can't use the Enter key to start this function when Enter key for cycle start is set in the wizard.
The probing message being displayed twice is a bug and will be fixed in the next RC. CNC12 has 2 different menu systems, the newer one has better interactions with the mouse and is easier to add and maintain with but uses the enter key to tab into a given field. The older menus, such as the probe menus, do not have this functionality so enter will still act as cycle start since there are no other actions the key can perform.
Laser - Setting position here with Set/F10 references the value that is set for the Edge Finder Diameter in the Manual screen. For example, if you have 0.375 set as the edge finder diameter, and you have a laser to spindle offset saved, it will subtract the radius of the edge finder from the final set position.
This is a bug and will be fixed in the next RC.
It would also be nice to have the option to lock the X and Y together here, so when you hit "Set", it would do both at the same time if desired.
Shift+F10 will set both the X and Y in the laser screen. In the manual screen, Shift+F9 will set both X and Y, Shift+F10 will set all axes
Probe Boss, Web, In/Out Corner - For each of these, you can't enter the values for Width, Diameter, or Clearance. Also, all probe cycles will start with the Enter key, but will not continue after the verify probe message with a second tap of the Enter key.
Using the arrow keys and starting to type your number will tab into the textbox and allow you to enter the values. The enter key not allowing you to continue for the verify message will be fixed for the next RC.

Gotcha, but that's quite inconsistent with other forms, especially when your hand is already on the mouse and muscle memory goes for it. ;)

I just tried this and while it does do both at the same time, it swaps the -/+ value set for the laser to spindle offset. For example, my offset is X-3.420 Y-4.07, and with shift/F10, it sets them to a positive value. Just F10 for each axis separately sets it properly.
