homeing function

Post by curiousMike »

I am having a problem with the homing function. The script runs until it encounters m26Z. The timer runs out with any movement. All limit switches can be toggled with the indicated input light and screen test responding properly. All three axis can be jogged but the movement it limited by an apparent travel limit that is the same as the start position when the machine was tuned on. The ClearPath motors and the C86ACCP connected board look proper it's with green led on.
I have attached the RPT
screen shot after the aborted
pic of the front of the machine
pic of the wiring in the cabinet ( in progress)

I need some help .

Looking at your report, first you have a ton of communication errors more than likely due to noise or bad grounding in your system. It's probably caused by your wiring and not using shielded wire/cable where needed.

Please take the time to follow the details in TB270 and review TB309 to resolve this issue as it will create larger problems down the road. The Tech Bulletins can be found here:

Second, you have no "home" inputs defined, only limits. When you press cycle start to "home" the machine it homes in its current position so you can't jog past that position. The machine is just not set up correctly. Change the inputs to homing inputs and tell the machine to "home to switches" on the "homing and travel" page in the wizard. You also set the homing direction on that same page.

Yes, that did the trick. Since I have only used limit switch for homing, I got the homing and limit switch function confused in my head.

The com errors reflect a new build in progress.
problem resolved
Thanks for the help...

Glad to hear that Mike. I'd definitely clean up the wiring as soon as possible as the communication errors can even cause issues even in testing and setup. Good ground and shield practices will solve most of those errors. Good luck on the rest of the build.
