Gentlemen:
I have ultimate mill software.
I want to import DXF or some cad format that I can support with my present software. I am a hobbyist and the mill stays off for months at a time, so buying an expensive cad package is out of the question.
The manual says that Dxf formats are only supported up to R14!
R14 is ancient: 25 years ago! My cad system can export all dxf formats AFTER R14. I can’t find anything that I have that is that OLD. Are you guys planning to support newer versions of dxf? I read the draft mill-12 manual with eager anticipation then utter disappointment. Are you planning to import any modern file formats?

Where is the documentation for engraving? The manual devotes only a few sentences.

What CAD are you using?

It is common to export even R12 with current software.

10.10 in the mill manual:

F8 – Engrave (Optional): Converts the entire file to engraving operations. Choosing this option displays the
engraving menu. Set the options as desired for the engraving. Surface Height is the height of the surface to be
engraved. Clearance Height is the height that the engraving tool will move up to clear the surface. Depth is the
depth of the engraving. Set the Plunge Rate and Feed Rate appropriately for the tool and material.

There is not more you will need to do an engraving from a DXF

Do you know of a program that would convert Autocad 2000 to R14?

You can export from any Autocad Version or Inkscape to R12 DXF

For engraving there is no more to say, the tool centerline follows the DXF at the depth you want, that's it.
