Part Zero?
Am I correct in my assumption that using the =0(zero) button on the WMPG is equivalent to setting the part zero in the part setup menu?

That button is setting the selected axis in the active WCS to Zero.
Maybe your desired part 0 edge is at this point also

I am calibrating the X axis mm/Rev. In Marty's video he says to reset part zero every time.

Yes part 0 and WCS 0 could be called the same thing....
For my wording I have in mind where I want to have 0 on the part, and then I set WCS 0 to this point
