I have clearpath servo run a 3 to 1 belt drive on all axes including the z ball screw. I have talked to teknic about this and after some testing.. it show that it is a setting in acorn. In the wizard I have the max set to 75 and anything about that the z move and stops then moves and stop and so on.
I will try to post a file from acorn

Re: Help with Z move speed
Please post a CURRENT report from the machine and it would be helpful to know what Clearpath motor you have. Is it sized for the load you are lifting? Does the Autotune in the MSP software complete with no errors? We'd need much more info to be able to troubleshoot this with you.

Re: Help with Z move speed
Teknic log in and look and ran testing on my system... they got no errors in there software and told me it is coming from the way acorn is sending the information to the servos... they were not point finger, just not getting any error even after we move the max speed in the acorn system to 100, but the z axis move then stop then moves with still not error in the clearpath software. the wiring is all from teknic with there plugs

Re: Help with Z move speed
need more info. photos of machine/motors/ wiring cabinet etc..
there are thousands of Acorn Clearpath systems running great so lets not be too quick to point fingers
also you are using some pretty old CNC12 software would be a good time to install the latest.

Re: Help with Z move speed
Not pointing at all... I love both the clearpath and centroid system. I have had this running for around 6 years. I just did a 2.5 D carving and it came to light when the z axis was running so slow. I also have a 4x8 plasma table running the same system.

Re: Help with Z move speed
I have a belt 3 to 1 driving the ball screw... Is this making it have some trouble?

Re: Help with Z move speed
The Z will perform well straight up on a 5mm pitch ball screw. Adding reduction is overkill
That said, you need more reduction on the x & y. Less than 1 is not recommended
