When starting with DIY CNC 4 years ago I also had a look at Masso but it was out after a few minutes.
Not enough functions and not very open to customize it, no conversational g code generation for easy parts.

The easy update function and additional APP for a smartphone is nothing if the CNC cannot do what you want it to do.
The new AI on the website is also only telling you what is in the manuals, well I can read myself.

In the last 4 years there was no major development as far as I can see, at least nothing I would pay for in an expensive abo.

Centroid CNC12 now compared to the version 4 years ago had made lot of big steps to improve the user experience and functionality
of the CNC control.

Also in fusion with the abo there are monthly updates adding new stuff to the system.

IMHO Centroid is still the best deal in DIY CNC if you want to make parts fast and reliable with a very good motion control.

I like the new pricing option, if new functions are something worth for your work pay for them, if not enjoy bugfixes for free.

Quick question on upgrades. Is there an approximate date of when 5.40 will be officially released. Also, I understand a number of changes have been made to the ATC options in the wizard. Does 5.40 or possibly 5.50 make use of the "AirBlowNozzle" output?

hello.
thanks for your input.
Masso did what you said and this happened.
https://forums.masso.com.au/threads/tho ... odel.4736/

opening up here on our CNC Forum about upcoming product changes informs and includes our customers in the course and direction of our products.
there are a lot of smart people that are Centroid fans and I like to get their opinions and feedback and roll that into my calculus.
Yeah Masso is a bit of a S**t show, I wouldn't consider one of their controls. Centroid has been going a long time you guys know how to make a good reliable product and run a business or you wouldn't have lasted this long.

I think your decision to not go subscription saas model is wise to not alienate your user base, especially with you being aware of what happened with Masso.

My point was more along the lines of your initial proposal about what you plan to do isn't unreasonable. Nobody here has blown up about it and shows you did your research and know your market so you could have just done it.

One thing you might want to do for new users is maybe make the first full featured update free just in case they buy close to a major update but other than that just go with what you proposed.

Personally I'd prefer if oak and acorn updates were the same price, but I accept your justification on them being different and the acorn & oak upgrade price are reasonable.

Bit of a poke the bear question, in the future if you add a feature like wireless probing which was recently added to ultimate, with the new model would that have potentialy gone into pro? What defines if a new feature is put into pro/ultimate/ultimate plus or is just given to everyone in the proposed paid update? If someone needs a feature that is a step up from say pro to ultimate they would have to buy the ultimate then a software update too? That seems like a bit of an unclear area. maybe if you buy up a level you should roll a software update in with the step up from pro to ultimate etc?

Thanks Uwe. Am I correct that 5.40 is scheduled to come out in a few weeks?

That's not a bad way to look at it, as long as big fixes don't get stuck in higher level releases only (e.g., a bug introduced in 5.2 should be fixed in a subsequent free 5.2 release, a 5.3 release, a 5.4 release, etc. and not just in 5.5).

You can use +5.40 with an old license and all bug fixes, only some new features are locked in this case.

If you update from Pro to Ultimate for instance you will also receive the latest Software Update as well. As an example you have Mill Pro but not the 5.40 Software Update and want a feature in Ultimate, if you purchase the upgrade from Pro to Ultimate you will also receive the 5.40 Software Update.
