Here is a report. Yes probing, but I think of setting Z stock offset with the tool setter and scanning tool offsets with tool setter as scanning so sorry for the confusion. I have a video coming.

Bill,
Take the time to watch both of Centroid's mill trailing videos so you understand how to set your tool offsets and part Zero.
https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic. ... 118#p14602

Also, download and read the Mill Operators manual.
On setting tool offsets and part zeros...

Honestly I have not done that yet, I’m pretty well versed in mill operation so I am kind of winging it for now. So maybe there is something I’m missing in my set up. Here is a video of my process, let me know if I’m missing something.

Thanks for taking the time to do the video. You are not setting tools correctly.

PLEASE take the time to watch the Mill Training videos. Your questions will be answered....
Best hour or two you will have spent.

And follow up with reading the Mill Operator's Manual. Specifically sections 4 & 5

Can someone please explain to me WHY in this video Keith does not use the reference tool method? He says nothing about it when setting tool offsets OR in part setup. I thought everything is based on the reference tool?

What method is this? The datum is home and no reference tool is required for this method?

A reference tool is not needed on a BED mill. like your Sherline.
It is needed when the bed can be raised and lowered.

A reference tool is not needed on a bed mill - if you have a repeatable home position (sensors and index pulse).

ok

now tell me WHY the offset page and tool table are separate, this makes NO sense to me? Are we to just assume that H1 in the table is always associated with tool 1, 2with2 3with3 etc.

You watched the videos. Did you read the mill operators manual?
This is not difficult. You're kind of making it that way Bill.
The videos described the entire process. You define your tools and their diameters on the Tool library and then setup the offsets in the offset page. If you have a tool touch off device even easier
