Don't hold me to this but I think you would want a 4 or 5 way air solenoid valve. Perhaps someone here more in tune with pnuematics can chime in.
Save that manifold as it is. Just buy one. Ebay sells them. Choose the voltage you want to use, get a momentary button to actuate the valve. Easy.

It's been a while since my last post, this project kept getting pushed back on the priority list.
All the electronics have their final wiring and are installed on the back of the machine.

I decided to learn a bit of video editing this evening.
I hope you enjoy this clip of the machine running some test code.

Next steps:
Enable the power draw bar.
Ball screw mapping

Best

Thanks Fellas, couldn't have done it without your help !!!

I have a question related to ball screw mapping.
In this video, it's recommended to use high precision home switches, specifically Metrol.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMRqL8b0Orw
https://www.metrol.co.jp/en/products/po ... switch_pt/

Has this been your experience as well?

I currently have these switches installed in all 6 locations, this particular switch:

I'm thinking I should replace 3 home switches with high precision pieces, is there a particular switch and vendor that's recommended?

Ballscrew mapping complete, very happy with the results.

Left side is before lash compensation, right side is after.
Original, open loop, steppers from proLIGHT 1000 machining center / mini mill.
Centroid Acorn control software.
eBay DRO

Showing Y Axis, 6" travel, results.
X & Z axis have very similar results.

Troubleshooting Dimensional Inaccuracy of Part

Some good news and some guidance needed.

Good news: I made my first part, it will be the end of a wrench used for ER16 collet holders. Being able to use F360 CAM is a win.

Needed guidance: The dimensions across the flats of the hex are not reasonably consistent.

BLACK: 0.983"
YELLOW: 0.999"
RED: 1.009"
NOMINAL: 1.000"

X = Left / Right (pic orientation)
Y = Up / Down (pic orientation)
0 / 0 = Lower Left
Climb Mill / Counter clockwise in pocket, finishing pass of 0.010"

The machine does have screw comp turned on, which had very good results during testing, within 0.0005" on position.

I'm wondering if maybe I'm losing steps? (Open loop steppers)
Maybe the lash is worse than I recorded?

Is there maybe a test part I can design and run that will help me determine the issue?

Thanks in advance !!

martyscncgarage wrote: Thu Jan 24, 2019 8:19 am Did you check backlash per this tech bulletin?
http://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppor ... ads/37.pdf

Can you describe the machine? Show a picture? Which stepper motors, Drivers, power supply, gearing?
You may have posted it elsewhere, but when you create a new post, the information is helpful to those of us that pour over MANY posts. I can't remember whose got what!

Marty
I'll go through the procedure today, thanks!!
