What I found out ist that the 5m extension is only working with max. 0.5m primary USB cable.

Makes sense, because by standard USB2.0 is limited to 5m.

Will the first Opcon work after update also?

Uwe
We're not planning on breaking existing OPCON functionality. USBBOB uses an expanded OPCON data format and CNC12 can distinguish between them and prepare to parse the correct data format.

Good news, since I am used to the Opcon on my lathe.

Doh, too late...

Pity, i have some really nice MPGs/Manual-Encoders laying around, some Chinese-ones and also really beautiful Siemens- and Euchner-stuff with soft and smooth magnetic detents, i would have loved to be a Beta-Teaster with these, too...

I don't need Spindle Speed Override or Feed Rate Override or Rapid Rate Override, so can I reuse those three rotary encoders
[ Rotary Encoder Assembly (P/N: 15399) x 3 ]
as the Manual Pulse Generators (MPGs) and just connect their wires into the MPG sockets?
Can the momentary button feature of those encoders also be used? Like to change from x10 to x100?
Thanks

I would not recommend doing that because those encoders are 24 steps/rev vs typical handwheel 100 counts/rev. There's probably an ergonomic reason why MPG knobs are so large as well.

To use the pushbutton feature, you'd have to wire that part back to H5, H6, or H7. To me, it doesn't really seem worth the effort when there are MPG encoders available for very little money.
