I found what the problem is when going very slow.
The output from my probe is noisy on slow speed, I see multiple contact closings that probably confuses the controller. When I increase the speed the problem goes away and only one contact closing can be seen when checked with oscilloscope.
The stopping precision is within 0.01 mm at my current problem free speed of 35 mm/min.
All is good.
Have a nice weekend.

Problem with Metric assignment
New install, completely de-installed CNC12 and deleted the directory.
Re-installed, started CNC12, Pressed Utility F7 then Wizard F10
First thing completed was setting the system to Metric
Went ahead and defined my controller setting (3200) and assigned overall turns ratio per mm as required. Tried to set maximum speed to 18000 mm/min and a popup told me I couldn't have anymore than 159. Tried again just to confirm at 300 to be told again 159.
2 screenshots supplied plus a report just taken.
BTW, prior to de-installing I decided to set the previous system to Imperial. Defined Max Speed as 1000 inches/m and CNC12 accepted it.
My question is, why am I restricted to 159 mm/min in metric yet I defined 1000 inches/min under imperial? I ran LInuxCNC at a maximum of 650 inches/m or 16,510 mm/m.
Cheers
Enter the max the wizard will allow, then reboot Acorn and the CNCPC. Then go back into wizard and you’ll be able to enter the higher feedrates.

Unfortunately that didn't work... did exactly that.
Cheers

Hmm.. that’s what I had to do.
What is your max output setting at? 100,000, 200,000, 400,000?

Probably 100,000, didn't get that far into the wizard......

That max will limit the max feedrate. That’s most likely what’s going on.

Racedirector,
your Step Rate is set at 200,000 Steps/sec so with 3'200 Steps/Revolution and a Turn/Ratio of 0.042441mm/turn, the maximum, speed you can reach is 159mm/min. Even if you change to 400,000 Steps/sec you can reach only a max of 318 mm/min.
Somehow your turn ratio of only 0.042441mm/turn looks a little off.
Check again what numbers you had before in 4.12

forgot to mention in the video if you are using Auto Squaring be sure to use MM values for the Gantry Homing Feed rate (200-750 mm/min) and the squaring distance. (user determined and machine specific)

Sick as a dog right now and can't sleep so I am here...
Swissi, I got 0.042441 from this calculation:
In the section for Metric my steps per mm come out at 135.812 from Microstepping of 16 or 3200 steps, 4:1 drive, 30T Mod 1 pinion on a Mod 1 rack. I was then told to divide that by my steps to get my ratio - so 135.812 / 3200 = 0.042441 ... or is that only for Inch?
4.12 doesn't exist in my world, I am starting off with 4.14. Also I am still at default of 100,000 steps/sec as I haven't got any further into the wizard yet.
Cheers
Bruce

Thanks Keith, the only difference between yours and mine is the turns ratio which, now, I have no idea if I am correct as mentioned in the post above this.
