Thanks for the informative explanation!
Mark,

Have you resolved the issue or are you still having problems?

You might consider looking into emi issues in the panel effecting Acorn.
Clay, sorry I missed your question, have been busy.
Started off adding 1K resistors to both step and dir, seemed to be working fine, after the 10K recommendation I added what I had on hand which was 2.2K, and everything seemed to work fine, bought some 10K installed and it seemed to work fine. I havnt run a bunch of files only a few. In addition I added a EMI filter Line side of VFD, drove a ground rod at subpanel.
Now after reading the new approved diagram for Acorn + clearpath SDSK looks like I'm ordering some 100 ohm resistors and changing the 24v to 5v.
Not sure I like that idea with long unshielded cables, more susceptible to EMI .
I suspect braided shield 8 core cnc rated wire is in the future.

Mark
Keep us posted as to how you get along.
Centroid spend quite a bit of time testing things before making these recommendations.
I am using C86ACCP. I make the suggestion to add terminal blocks which is being done to improve the board and allow users to cut down their cables if needed.

Update

Changed things over to 5v with 100 ohm resistors as per the official, its run several files flawless (knock on wood).

For anyone else new running this combo that is time constrained, I made the mistake of not setting steps per rev in the SDSK motors with MSP, I wanted to get things working first and then optimize. My machine has a mix of 3411's and 3421 motors, they came from factory with different steps per rev which made calibration whacky in Wizard (not having set them to match Acorn steps).

With the standard RLN motors I set Wizard and MSP to 3200 so they are both on the same page. The RLN has a 800 step resolution, so I could probably set Acorn to 1600 and let sdsk just count twice but chose the middle of the road setting.

The cut quality with these changes is impressive and accurate so far.

Set all your drives to 1600 in MSP
Then set all your steps per motor rev in the Wizard to 1600

THEN set you overall turns ratio. I converted this in My Syil X4 build only I set my RLN motors to 6400

Marty,

Why would you set RLN motors and Wizard to 6400? from what I was told by teknic the motor driver will just count 8 times before it moves one step. It wont give you any better resolution.
Only reason I set mine at 3200 is thinking maybe the Acorn board performed better up off its lowest setting of 1600.

I dont need blazing speeds, my machine maxes out at 300ipm, too much flex especially in the Z.
I will be looking to upgrade the Z in near future to linear rails .

Centroid CNC12 requires AT LEAST 1600 to prevent rounding errors. (As explained to me by Centroid)
When you load the Clearpath SD drives it automatically loads 6400.
