I was running at 25 mm / minute before since it gave me excellent repeatability. I can probably run at 30 mm / minute and still get excellent result.
We are just talking about the last 2.5 mm at slow speed, so that will be 6 seconds on slow speed.

I cannot reproduce your problem.
Did you change your Step Rate when upgrading to 4.14? Check out this video from Franco where he explains having a similar symptom that you are describing and how he solved it by reducing the Step Rate from 200,000 Steps/sec to 100,000.

We will need your Report file to see if we can spot anything else that could cause it.

The default slow probing rate for 4.14 is 3ipm or about 75mm a minute. Slower than that can cause issues (such as you may be experiencing)
Change the value and test for repeatability.
You must post a fresh report when asking for support. That way we can see how you have the software configured.

Marty,
I was just reading the probing setup recommendations and did see the 3" slow speed. I don't have any issues if I go above 30mm/min, so I am just going too slow. Will check repeatability at higher speeds when I get home this evening.
All is probably OK.
Could not send report since I am at work. If any issues shows up then I will send report.
Swissi,
The problem you refer to would make the motor stop, but DRO counting. The problem for me was that both motor and DRO stopped.
I am using 100,000.
Thanks for help.
Have a nice day.

Marty,
Can you please elaborate on your statement that feed rates slower than 75mm/min can cause problems? What's causing the issues? I can't see any issues on my system. If I go below 5mm/min the stepper motor starts to sound a little strange but still moves.
Thanks,

KD5FZX,
in the case when your probing cycles stop prematurely, do you have to "ESC" out of the cycle and then get a message like "Probing Cycle dumped"?

Nithing to elaborate on. 3ipm is recommended. Anything else is up to and at the risk of the user. What works for you may not work for someone else.

Well I hate to bring this up again but when you follow Centroid's recommendation of how to configure a Metric system, Centroid's default value for the slow probing rate is actually 3mm/min and if you follow Keith's recommendation from this post
viewtopic.php?f=60&t=2894&start=10#p21136 it is actually 1.5mm/min
I see Centroid's recommendation of 3"/min (75mm/min) as a good compromise between speed and accuracy and more than a maximum value than a minimum value. You need to be able to go slower if you need more accuracy and I can't see any good reasons why a properly configured systems should not be able to do that. If you can't slow probe with 20mm/min, you need to figure out what's wrong with your system setup.

Hi Swissi,
As fast as Centroid is working on hardware and software, with limited resources, it takes a bit to get caught up.
It is very encouraging to see how much effort they put into Acorn, both the hardware and software.
Centroid is not a large company, many employees wear many hats. The team they have is sharp and knowledgeable.
Regards,
Marty

Problem with Metric assignment
New install, completely de-installed CNC12 and deleted the directory.
Re-installed, started CNC12, Pressed Utility F7 then Wizard F10
First thing completed was setting the system to Metric
Went ahead and defined my controller setting (3200) and assigned overall turns ratio per mm as required. Tried to set maximum speed to 18000 mm/min and a popup told me I couldn't have anymore than 159. Tried again just to confirm at 300 to be told again 159.
2 screenshots supplied plus a report just taken.
BTW, prior to de-installing I decided to set the previous system to Imperial. Defined Max Speed as 1000 inches/m and CNC12 accepted it.
My question is, why am I restricted to 159 mm/min in metric yet I defined 1000 inches/min under imperial? I ran LInuxCNC at a maximum of 650 inches/m or 16,510 mm/m.
Cheers
