Thank you for the link. I should have been more clear. I have the probe calibrated ,I was looking to see if I can use it to set the machine up instead of using a dial indicator for fine tuning travels, like when setting the known 12” for fine tuning the DRO

Do I really need the setting ring for my probe or is a know diameter ok. I have a press fit bushing that is 1.375 id. It works but is it more precise with setting ring ?

Any known diameter is okay.

How can I make a button on the virtual panel to manually turn on and off my spindle lock/brake. Since it a Bridgeport I need to lock the spindle to loosen the drawbar and release it when I’m done. The machine currently unlocks the spindle when I’m in a program and such.
I just got the spindle encoder on today and happy with that.

I almost have everything running….almost ! I’m asking for help with the rigid taping. It seems to be working, kinda. But the machine motor is
‘Stalling” to pull tap out when reversing.
I’m doing say a 3/16 tap .50 deep with step down at .125 each “peck” and motor seems like not enough torque to reverse it back out .
This is a Bridgeport with an adjustable -speed pulley setup, my question is where do I set the machine speed to so that the Allin1dc can control the rpms.
My rpms on the controller match the spindle speed ( done with a Tachometer) not getting errors just stalls.
I’m assuming the pulley adjustable speed is to high (torque) for the machine when trying to reverse spindle once it’s in materal
I’ve tried to mess with the VFD settings to reduce startup delay . Any help.

well I got it all sorted out. I went thru a few settings in my VFD , confirmed spindle speed matches what's being called for with in 2 rpm , confirmed the motor shaft rpm matches motor tag when VFD is @60hz and max spindle rpm is set on machine. put a new tap in and tried 10 holes from 600rpm to 800rpm with only .10 dwell at .250 pecking and 1" deep. threads look awesome all the way down.

What did you change, to prevent the spindle motor from stalling when reversing at the bottom of the hole?

I adjusted the VFDs parameter for max start torque, then I checked and changed the hz adjustment at 60hz for the actual motor spindle to be traveling at rated rpm (1750) then adjusted the machine pulley to be max (3500) rpm at spindle with the cnc12 at 100% spindle speed and then commanded a 600 rpm from cnc12 and verified the spindle speed was matching 2-3 rpm difference by slight adjustment to the machines pulley setting and then left machine rpms alone.

These holes were done with 3/8-16, 1” deep bottom tap with .200 pass all holes were very clean using mist coolant, no signs of stalling. All the way from 600-800 rpm
