thanks, the idea is you will be able to upload any .jpg or .png you want, so you could take a photo with your phone and upload it if you want. :D
This is really helpful to redo parts made a while ago, especially if the tool lib can be exported and imported completely with the pics.

For my workflow better than importing tools from fusion.

The crown would be to save and reload jobs, aka tool lib together with g-codes and WCS (maybe with additional pics)

Uwe

this sounds a lot like how we do plasma material profiles now. a G code calls the specific material profile in the part program and uses those specifics contained in the profile.

For V-Bits or Form Bits would it be possible to have a X-Y part Zero inhibit flag on the tool so that they could only be used for Z-Zero?
what is the purpose of the "tool type" column? doesn't the description take care of that?

The description can take care of that. How many characters are you limited to with the new Tool Database?

255,
as you know the description on the screen doesn't have room for that many characters in the table (right now its about 60) so, thinking of displaying a pop up window, or hover or double click to see the whole description if using more characters than the tool library can display.

255 characters is great. If hovering is an option or double clicking on the line which would open the tool detail and wrap the text in the window of the tool detail if there is real estate to do so

yeah, we can do that.

I like the improved setup for laser. Nice to see the offsets and usable backplot dot size automatically assigned. I don't know how other laser users would feel about this, but let me suggest two other attributes that could be assigned here:
1) Smoothing mode. It's easy to overlook this, and assigning the mode chosen for that laser would remove the need to put it in the PP, edit G-code, or just run it from the screen selection. G64 "Vector Laser", or G64 "Raster"
2) Scanning offset adjustment. The laser document has us adjust backlash for a given axis. But the backlash we see mechanically could very well be different from the line offset we see on the laser. There are additional time/speed dependent lags that come to play that are part of the laser firing chain. Lightburn has settings to adjust for this, for example. It seems a little fiddly to have to go back and forth and adjust lash based on the tool chosen. I'd prefer to have my machine mechanical lash kept separate from laser line offset adjustments. As I understand it, lash compensation is a computer adjustment, and so is laser offset adjustment. I can't see an upside to having this done in two places.

Laser Setup options will be in the Laser setup menu.

1.) G64 modifies the geometry by definition, it is not intended nor has it every been recommended by Centroid to be used with Laser cutting or engraving.
I think this confusion can from Avid making a check box in there version of our Wizard that says "Laser Smoothing".
That being said, would there be a Laser g code case that G64 could help with? possibly, We didn't need it during our Laser testing to get good results.
Adding G64 into the mix will result in unintended consequences, your results may vary. This falls into the experimental category since the way G64 works is radically different than the regular machine motion algorithm.

2.) Currently diode laser power isn't powerful enough to 'outrun' the machine, and while i have no doubt that there is a delay from the time the command is given to the laser head to the laser hitting the material currently this occurs outside the parameters of useful functionality (the laser isn't strong enough to make the burn you want for that little bit of time that it is on the target) That being said some day there will be affordable Lasers on the market that will be powerful enough to out run the machine. so for now, an offset feature is not needed to get great Laser cutting results with a Centroid. https://www.centroidcnc.com/dealersuppo ... ds/326.pdf In the future we could add a delay compensation feature.
