OK, I get it...that makes a lot of sense for new tool setup.

However, I would imagine someone has or will want to retrofit a machine with an automatic tool arm in the future and it would be nice to have a way to tell the control where the tool arm is (offset from spindle centerline). I could see someone running a production lathe and wanting to automate the process when changing a worn / broken insert.

In this case you have to write a macro ....

... but in real world, why remeasure a tool if only the insert is changed?

IDK, just to check and verify the offset didn't change...or make sure you replaced it with the same insert.

Uhm, i'm not sure if i get it right now.
Does the rear-tool-measuring work now? I understood it still does not?

Sorry for getting back that late, but the workload in my regular job exploded the last few weeks... :?

We've made some changes to the tool-measurement calculations. From our testing, X and Z measured properly in all configurations (front/rear mount, auto/manual measure, ID/OD Tools, etc.)

The updated build can be found here:

Please let us know if you're still encountering any issues.

Thank you,
Michael

IMHO toolsetup on the lathe is perfect now

Automeasure in +Z direction is working also with calculating the stylus thickness.

Great job

Enter Key = Cycle Start is not working in tool setup in 5.19 AcornSix lathe.

Woohoo - looks as if this issue may be fixed now. If I can sneak out to the machine, I'll try out the update myself although realistically, given the lengthy update process, this may not be possible until the weekend.

FYI - mine has a rear mounted turret (with spindle "forward" being clockwise direction) and a TTO probe that is radially offset to the spindle axis.

It's been over 18 months since I highlighted this issue, so I'm glad it appears to have been addressed. I appreciate that CNC lathe is a bit of a minority sport and even then, mine is a rather unusual setup. On the upside I've been away from home a fair bit this last year so my workshop time has been rather limited.

I have setup my lathe to rear mount also to test this out, IHMO no bugs now in all directions.

I'm part way through installing the 5.19 beta trial. I've copied all the wizard settings across from the previous version (4.8) but of course I need to modify the plc to implement my ATC controls. I had to create my own custom version, as my turret position feedback has 8 individual lines rather than Graycode.

Somewhere in the copious documentation there will doubtless be a great explanation but it's been a while since I last updated as you can tell. Do I now take the plc .SRC file that the wizard has just created and make the same edits I made before, then recompile it? That's presumably the only to combine the wizard settings with the plc mods.

I can use Visual Code Studio to compare the previous and new .SRC files but it's a bit of a job to go through this again, so if possible I'd like some confirmation that I'm on the right track before launching into it.

Many thanks
