I did buy VFD cable from them. I have the motor cable grounded at the motor and to the ground bar connected to the VFD. THe shield is wrapped around the small ground wire.

THe VFD ground bar is grounded to panel via 2
" jumper that it is mounted on and also the ground from the 220 line from service entrance goes directly to the IMI that is mounted to the panel inches from the VFD.

All wires to the servo are shielded and grounded at panel end only. The shield is cut flush with insulation at the encoder end.

All power supplies are in a separate enclosure and the 24v PS and 2 relays in another too.

I'll take some pictures when I get to the shop if a hour or so.

That doesn't sound right.
VFD cable has a complete and heavy braid around the conductors, not a foil shield. Please take a picture of the cable with the outer jacket stripped back a bit.

When I meant signal cable, I meant the cable that goes from Acorn step dir signals to the drives, or did you use individual wire for step/dir signals?

This is the cable I got from ShowMeCables. https://www.showmecables.com/14-awg-3-c ... e-per-footWithout these cables all axis would jitter as soon as I turned on spindle even with 3ph filter and factory motor wires. There is continuity between shield and bare ground wire.
14 AWG - 3 Conductor - 600V - Stranded Conductor - Shielded - VNTC Tray Cable - Per Foot

I am using shielded cat5 from acorn to vfd. Shield is not being grounded.

Snubbers on 24v to relays. This PS is only used for these VFD and axis drive transformer relays.

Shielded Cat5 from CNC45PC adaptors to drives. Adaptors go to C86
Shielded cables from driver motor power out and encoder out to drives. THese shield wires (green) are grounded at one end to a central panel ground terminal. No shield wire visible inside encoder.
The snubber is on the 120v terminals for oiler that comes from Acorn relay board.

The limit wires are not shielded.

Thanks for the pictures! I see you got one of CNC4PC's boards and you are using a TECO FM50 VFD.
On several occasions, I have had trouble with TECO VFDs. Not saying yours won't work, but I don't use them anymore.

Did you tune your DC Brush Servos with the software that came with the drives?

Are you saying your ENCODER cables from the motors to the drives are NOT shielded? Those should definitely be shielded.

I will get a different VFD and put this one on my BP.

I spent a ton of time tuning. Never got a good graph but they run and start smooth and all travels are dead on untill i turn on spindle. I hooked up the USB tune card and it wont let me look at the settings now for some reason. I was able before acorn. It asks for a reset now. I would hate to reset and do all that tuning again unless it is a last resort.
I ran a 10 min movement test without spindle on and the accuracy of the movement was extreamly accurate. I moved on to learnig fusion and now i find this issue.

The encoder cables are shielded and grounded to panel but not at encoder end.

Any recommendations on a VFD?

I like the GS3 series from Automationdirect.com Also suggest you get a piece of VFD cable from them as well.
Wait to see if anyone else chimes in.

Do check other things like drive signal cables near or parallel to VFD power cables etc.

Did you run the same 10 minute test and check your error logs again for resends?

OUCH $325
I see the VFD cable is different than the cable I got. WIll try that first before getting VFD.
I sure am tired of re buying so much.

VFD cables leave the enclosure inches away. Power to the VFD and 110 for the oiler is in it's own run far right.
The signal cable going to the VFD do run next to drive power, encoder and limit cables for a short bit. Should I be concerned with that and would it make a difference to ground the cat5 shield going to the VFD? Guess it wouldn't hurt anyway.
acorn control.jpg
I can just try to separate them and see how it goes. I'll put a longer Cat5 going to the VFD so I can move it.
