Thanks Keith for taking the time to video this. I am finally getting back to work on my Techno lathe. Hope to have it up in the next couple of weeks.
I will send pictures as I progress.

Thanks for making these Keith, looking forward to the full video.
Regarding the video you posted, did you set "X diam" and "z ref" prior to doing the "measure z and x"?
Is there going to be a write up of the full auto tool measurement process?

Re: tool z and x ref and offsets discussion for lathe auto tool touch off
Hello. procedure is the same for manual and automatic. and its the same procedure shown in the operator manual.
i will show the procedure using my method in the upcoming step by step video.
below is the write up of the procedure used in the video..for an Acorn Lathe these are my steps to setup tools in the tool library and turn a part.
1.) Home machine and then Set X wcs zero position. I skim cut piece of scrap stock with the reference tool, measure diameter, use the part setup menu and enter the diameter of the skim with the tool still at that same X diameter.
2.) Insert TT device into chuck, Enter the Tool offset menu, arrow key the cursor to the X offset location for the reference tool. Press F1 X Diam, Follow instructions on screen to Auto set reference position.
3.) Now i go and measure all the X offset at the same time.. yes it is more tool changes, but it helps me keep things straight..So, insert the next tool to be measured, jog it into position so its ready to touch the TT device, move the cursor in the tool library to the X offset value for that tool, press F2 MEASURE then choose F5 Measure X offset follow instructions on screen.
4.) repeat step 3 for all tools.
5.) Now set Z ref position, load reference tool, position tool to touch Z surface of TT device, move cursor to Z offset value for reference tool, press F1 Z ref and follow instructions on the screen.
6.) insert the next tool to be measured, jog it into position so its ready to touch the TT device, move the cursor in the tool library to the Z offset value for that tool, press F2 MEASURE then choose F6 Measure Z offset follow instructions on screen. repeat this step for all tools.
now turn a part.....
7.) place stock in the chuck. load any tool that is currently setup in the tool library, set Z zero location with that tool, make a Z skim cut or touch off using paper, enter the part setup menu and type in the Z position and the tool being used press F10. Graph the part to check for errors and you are good to go and press cycle start. i turn down the feedrate ahead of time and used combination of Feed Hold and Tool Check to perform a "reality check" for each new tool that i am using for the first time. stop the tool in the program with Feed Hold and look at the DRO and make sure the tool tip position matches what is on the screen. if good.. press cycle start and keep on going.
