Todd,
I have seen this before I had a machine set to run overnight and finish in the daytime, on this one it was the cpu fan slowing down, have a look at the cooling fan on your cpu when it comes to a stop or goes randomly off, might even be better to change to another fan just for a try.

Something else to try change to raster angle cuts, say 24 degree's it puts all 3 axis working at the same time same rate.

I did change the raster to 90 from 45 to take the load off a little but no go.
The Fan never shut off or really ever slowed down. Dono I just cai'n trust it after my test with lesser PC
The 6 hour 3D file 90 deg raster or 0 depending how you look at it
