Marty,
I am still in the process of building my cabinet and getting things rewired. I also am moving my Acorn CNC12 to a better computer and touch screen monitor. Is there a particular process I should do in order to save all my settings on the old laptop, when transferring the software to the new computer.
Yes, simply save a report. From the Utility Menu, save report. Save it to a USB drive.
Configure the new computer, load a fresh copy of CNC12 (same version you were running previously) start CNC 12, go to the Utility Menu insert the USB drive, click Restore Report, point the computer to the report file on the USB memory stick and select it.
It will configure CNC12 from the report file.

Just want to pitch in since you are using AutomationTech drivers. I have found on my current build with KL8060E's that the 5v logic can cause some headaches. And here is a suggestion to all using these type drivers. The 5v logic needs to share the common with Acorn board/PS. I believe the reason that things start working with DB 25 connector is that is shares Acorn common. I tried every available wiring config with nice DIN mounted 5V supply that was separate from Acorn supply to no avail. After using the same dual voltage supply that came with my board, everything worked just fine. I jumpered DIR+ with PUL+ back to the +5V side of the supply and everything works as expected. In retrospect, it seems kinda obvious since most of these switching power supplies have floating voltage. Their output is set relative to its common only, not ground.

Thanks for sharing that. Yes, power supply DC commons should be tied together.

Thanks guys, the info is greatly appreciated. I am having to change my approach due to size constraints in my cabinet. I am converting all my power supplies to DIN rail mounts to give me more flexibility in locating everything in the box. It is going slow as my shop is not heated and its cold here in NC.
Thanks again!

Well, it will be in the 50's today and I probably work on it some, but check back Wednesday. I think the high won't get above freezing. I don't see how people, like in the UP stand it. I was there years ago in March. I think I shivered for a week when I got back.

That's shorts and t-shirt weather around here (just to the west of Gary)! Factor in wind chills for later this week and we're talking a 100º difference! I'm green with envy , but will be blue in skin tone!
